Southam & District Lions Club welcomes you…
We hold our meetings at Galanos House, Banbury Road, Southam on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday each month at 8.00pm.
Our aim, well, we try to put the fun back into fundraising by organising events in and around the local area, generating much needed funds that we can pass back to those more needy than us.

- Lions looking oh so warm!!
We welcome new members and visitors and if you would like to attend a meeting just phone our secretary Lion Tony “Scoop” Lorimeron 01926 811710. There is no compulsion to join… nothing to stop you leaving when you want to… and no secret signs or handshakes! (Note: For Furniture contact, see tab at top of page)
Community minded persons are welcome to enquire about our activities and membership. Our aims are to provide service and assistance to the less fortunate in the local and wider community, whilst enjoying the fun and fellowship of our own and other club members.
Fellowship…good times…meeting people…building lasting friendships…service to the community ….learning new skills….leadership and personal development – these are just some of the benefits of being a member of a Lions Club, the world’s largest and most active service club organisation.
The official motto of the association is simply ”We Serve”. What better way to explain our mission?

Why? … Southam & District Lions Club, formed in 1971, is part of Lions Clubs International, a world wide voluntary service organisation with over 34,000 clubs in 155 countries, comprising more than 1,500,000 members, making it the largest organisation of its kind in the world. While each Lions Club gives priority to the needs of its local community the Association is truly international with no religious or political affiliations of any description. As Southam is not a large town, the “District” in the name is very important, since it describes an area which includes the villages of Long Itchington, Harbury, Bishops Itchington, Napton, Stockton, Ufton, Marton, Priors Marston, Priors Hardwick, Ladbroke, Deppers Bridge, Fenny Compton, Northend and Knightcote.
Where? … We serve in any way we can, and to the best of our ability, to what we see to be the needs of the community in which we live, in whatever form it appears necessary, and to whatever extent our resources of time and money permit.

- We have a good social life too
When? … We receive requests of all natures, and sometimes it takes a while to find the right answer or right person for the job. We can, and do, contact other organisations if they are better able to assist – all in an effort to provide speedy help. All this is done in our spare time; there are no full time organisers. As an International organisation Lions are able to provide urgent assistance in times of disaster through the Lions International Foundation, a trust fund established by regular contributions from Lions Clubs throughout the world.
How? … Money is raised from you the public to support our projects. All monies raised in this way are entirely used for charity. Nothing at all is deducted for Club administration. All members subscribe to their own administration costs. Since 1971, Southam & District Lions Club has raised well over a hundred and twenty thousand pounds.
Why? … The effort contributed by a collection of men (and frequently their families too) for serving their local community provides a fellowship second to none – an important aspect of our Club life.
What? … Our activities include – supplying furniture to those in need, assisting families in distress. Organising and running fund raising events sometimes with other local organisations. From the money raised, responding to both local and national appeals for assistance or donations. Providing equipment to hospitals, clinics, pre-school groups schools etc. Organising concerts for the elderly. Sponsor ship of MedicAlert, Project Sight First and other quality of life enhancing projects. We have even run a Poetry Competition ! One of the poems entered, about Southam Lions, has been put to music. See it below !
